SUPPORTING MTS
t is a great pleasure to introduce
this new edition of Concordia as I
approach the end of my first year
in post at the school. It has passed
very quickly, and has been full of
achievement. In a variety of
different ways, the school has been
recognised for its excellence. This
is entirely in keeping with the
school’s philosophy of offering
outstanding provision across a full
range of different activities.
In April, a team of ISI inspectors
descended upon the school to assess
the quality of our work. The quality
of pupils’ achievement and learning
was judged to be exceptional. That is
the highest possible grading and is an
honour accorded to very few schools.
Our boys were hugely impressive as
ambassadors and I was also lifted by the
exemplary work of the teaching sta.
The quality of teaching was praised as
excellent. Inspectors felt it is notable for
its energy and enthusiasm, strong subject
knowledge, and the rapport between
teachers and pupils. Relationships at
school were seen to be positive and
highly respectful. The pupils’ personal
development was judged to be excellent.
Inspectors found that pupils are friendly,
happy and self-reflective, whilst not only
was the contribution of curricular and
extra-curricular provision considered
excellent, but also pastoral support and
guidance was awarded the highest level.
‘Exceptional’ is probably how
Middlesex County Cricket Club
would also describe the school, but
their focus would be less upon the
quality of academic and extra-curricular
performance and more a statement
of the quality of our cricket squares.
The cover photograph should do
justice to the wonderful T20 game
we enjoyed between Middlesex and
Hampshire. This will be the first of
many first class cricket fixtures – making
us one of only three schools to oer
such events. The link with Middlesex
continues to strengthen: we are already
the home of their youth cricket academy
and are the settled choice of their first
team for pre-season training.
Finally, the Development O
ce
continues to extend its ambition. The
Roll of Benefactors shows the support
the school has already received from
friends and OMTs. The recent City
Network event was greatly enjoyed
and will soon be followed by a Medics
Convention, then an event for those
in the arts and creative industries.
Our young alumni are invited back
in September for a barbeque in my
garden and can already enjoy the
benefit of the new online careers
directory. The telephone campaign
kicks o again this summer, building
upon last year’s success.
What a year!
