Taylorian 2020

113 Berenzweig, his flag waving engulfing the set piece in red, the colour of angry men? For all these notable performances, this was ultimately a team effort. The number of people on the stage was staggering, Ms Clarke’s direction and choreography exquisite. The chorus gave it their all, and then some. The production team were superb. Special mention must go to Mr Gimmi and Mr Talboys for constructing and managing as colossal a set and sound and lighting rig as ever I have seen at MTS. Everything was on the grandest of scales. And what about the music? The musicians were extraordinary. Their music fed both the narrative and the heart of the show. Mr Couldridge conducted with seemingly effortless skill, the epitome of that term we have heard so often in this hall: sprezzatura. How much time and effort must he, Mrs Stubbs as répétitrice and Mr Collins on piano have put into getting those remarkable pieces out of the students?
