Upper Thirds Outdoor Sketching

Upper Thirds built upon their microclimate studies today by taking to Head Master's field to sketch and identify the geography of the landscape.

They linked their knowledge of climate data to their module on diverse societies, acknowledging that they were looking at a cultural landscape that has been modified by humans and which holds different emotional attachment for each individual.

Pupils annotated the impact of aspect, albedo effect, land use and gradient. We all enjoyed taking a moment outside the classroom to really engage with the landscape and to spend time seeing a familiar site through a geographical lens.
