Divisions Tycoons Pitch Up
Pupils in the Lower Sixth at MTS have taken part in Young Enterprise (YE) for many years, but Enterprise competitions have always been confined to the Upper School. This year however, pupils in the Divisions are piloting a new enterprise competition for MTS.
Run by the Peter Jones Foundation* (PJF), the Tycoon competition involves creating a business plan and pitch video, submitting it to PJF with a detailed request for start-up funding and then using this to support their business trading for a defined period of time. At the end of the period, teams submit an evaluation of their business and a second video for judging and shortlisting for the national Tycoon Final. Winners at the national event will walk away with £1000 to be invested back into their business or school.
The team of six Divisions pupils have identified a need for keenly priced replacement surface pen nibs and chargers and consequently set up their business, Stylux, to fill this gap in school. Last week they started trading under the statue of Thomas White, one of the school’s Founders, who would no doubt have been impressed by their entrepreneurial skills. Stylux will be trading over the next few weeks, and are really hoping to make it to the national final. It would be great to see lots of pupils and parents supporting them!
